KASAULI RESORTS
Kasauli a quiet hill station just an hours drive from Chandigarh known for its pines and grassy meadows
Kasauli a quaint little hill station in Himachal town, an easy drive from Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jallandhar & Delhi.
One look at this old town and you think you are still in the 19th century. Cobbled roads, houses with lovely frontage, laden chestnut trees and nice little gardens at every short distance. There is little to do and this may be heaven for some lovers of solitude. The
best thing you can do in Kasauli is go for long walks and soak in the sun. Mixed
forests of chir-pine, Himalayan oak and huge horse chestnuts surround this beautiful hill station.
Even though many hotels and resorts have come up around Kasauli, the main town under the Army is still the same with a small market with cobbled roads with no over commercialisation as seen at many hill stations across India.

What to do
I will love to write ‘NOTHING’ here, cos it is a
boon for the people who come here to just relax and do nothing, but for the sake
of others, here goes.
The best thing U can do in Kasauli is go for long and
leisurely walks
– Take a long 4 km walk from Bus Stand to the Monkey
Point, the highest point of Kasauli which also has a temple dedicated to the
Hindu deity. It gives a lovely view of the
Satluj river and valley and the Chandigarh town. The view is spectacular
especially on a clear starry night.
– Walk to the Christ Church on the Upper Mall Road,
Kasauli
– A small market is there at Mall Road, selling
mainly daily needs stuff. One can get some fast food stuff at Awan Complex.

Things to do
Monkey Point
Hanuman ki Jai, that’s what you say when you climb this hill to reach the Hanuman Mandir at top at a height of 2500m.
Monkey Point, also known as Manki Point, is a popular tourist point in Kasauli. It is also the highest point of the town from where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the surroundings. From here, tourists can also get a glimpse of Chandigarh region along with a little bit of Sutlej River flowing through the steep valleys and snow-capped peak of Choor Chandni.
Another significant feature of this place is the ancient Hanuman temple, dedicated to the monkey god of the Hindus. The place is named after this temple has an interesting association with a famous Hindu mythological story. If legends are to be believed, Lord Hanuman had set foot here while returning with Sanjeevani booti from the mighty Himalayas.
In fact, the hilltop also is shaped like a foot which is believed to be the footmarks of the lord. Come here, visit the temple and soak in the beauty of nature. Its a great trekking route ending at the top of the hill with great views and a temples for darshan.
Mall Road
Kasauli Mall is nothing like the more popular Mall roads of Shimla, Mussoorie etc. Its just a set of view shops along a cobbled road, some of them selling nice momos, a speciality. Still it remains ‘talk fo the town’ specially in the evenings with tourists coming for a stroll to buy some souvenirs to take home. This incidentally is called the lower Mall.
The Upper Mall is a stretch of quiet and serene 2.5km road lined by pine and deodar trees and some bungalows and offices for the army. Its usually much less crowded, but makes for a wonderful walk with chirping of birds the dominant sound you will hear.
You can spend a leisurely two hours going to and fro on the Upper Mall, only Army vehicles are allowed on this road so traffic is sparse.
Christ Church
Christ Church is one of the oldest church of Himachal Pradesh known for its picturesque structure and scenic beauty, it is dedicated to St. Francis and St. Barnabas. The church dates back to 1850s and was constructed by the resident British families of Kasauli.
The gray building of the church is ornamented with fantastic mirror work with a green roof reminding one of the gone by British era.
One of the unique features of the church is the clock tower with a clock around 150 years old. Few years back the Army engineering division repaired this clock and the residents could again hear it chime after a gap of 50-60 years. Read more about the Clock of Christchurch
You will also find some interesting graves in the cemetery attached to the church with some gravestones dating back to the 1850s.
